Ever since I was a kid I loved to ride snowmobiles. I loved to race them as well, no matter the conditions and no matter the weather you would see little ole me racing down the corners in a little mini z skidoo. I would consider it a passion of mine. I always would get an adrenaline rush when I sped up the sled, racing down the stretch of the oval race track. I would get competitive when I realized someone was beside me. I always wanted to win. Why did I stop? I was afraid. I was scared that something would happen and I would never be me again. In the years I raced, I had never seen anyone get dangerously injured where it was life-threatening. Sure, there were many crashes and oopsies. But after the countless times I crashed in a row, I stopped. I do regret regret snowmobiling. This is why I am here to say, never give up your dreams. Keep going with your passions and keep going even when you are scared. Because if you do quit, you will regret it. Even if you don’t in the moment, you will sometime down the road.
When I did race, I loved the speed. People would always think that I was a boy out on the track because I’d always hide my hair in my jacket. But when everyone heard who I was they were astonished that someone as small as I was racing. I would rip through the corners and try to pass as many people as I could. It didn’t matter how cold it was or snowy. I would still go. This was oval racing so I would go around and around and still not get dizzy doing it. To this day I still love the thought of speeding around the corners and trying to maneuver past the racers as I tried to make it to the end. Racing was fun and thrilling but when you’re terrified to do something it becomes harder to do it. But why do something if you're terrified right? Wrong! You keep going because you might end up loving it. Or if it is something dangerous and you're terrified. Then that is completely understandable! If no one else understands that then it is their fault. But in all seriousness, if you are scared to do something, you should still try it.
Back to snowmobiling! If you haven’t yet, you should definitely check out some cool snowmobile race videos (Snowcross or Oval or in between) and also check out my favorite team, Town Brothers Racing! An inspiration when I first started out racing. They are great riders and very kind! Just a few years ago they started racing the newer race sleds and building a team. Over the past few years, they’ve grown and worked very hard to gain what they have now. Great people as well, I’m excited to see what they have in store for the next year. A prime example of why you should keep going and pursuing what you want to do in life.
